A Fresh Perspective on “Beauty at Sea”

As part of the comprehensive refurbishment of the MS AMERA for Phoenix Reisen, P-O-I.Design completely reimagined the existing hair salon and manicure area.

The former space was not only outdated in its appearance, but also oversized in relation to its actual operational requirements.

The new concept deliberately reduces the footprint while creating a significantly more efficient, contemporary, and inviting environment. By combining a modern hair salon with two new guest cabins, the redesigned layout seamlessly integrates operational workflows into the spatial concept. Every element was carefully positioned to optimize movement, working processes, and guest comfort while making better use of the available space.

A key aspect of the transformation was the shift in atmosphere. Replacing the former, rather traditional Greek aesthetic, P-O-I.Design developed a bright and welcoming beauty environment that feels fresh, light, and approachable. A restrained material and color palette—complemented by clean architectural lines, indirect illumination, and carefully integrated details—creates an elegant setting that feels both modern and timeless.

The result is a compact yet highly functional hair and manicure destination on board, where efficient working conditions meet a warm, inviting guest experience. The project demonstrates how a reduced footprint can yield greater value through intelligent planning, optimized workflows, and a completely renewed design identity.
