Amtico Bio – Marine

Supplier: Amtico International
Amtico Bio, the UK’s first bio-attributed LVT, replaces fossil fuel feedstocks with renewable biomass under mass balance rules for the PVC, cutting cradle-to-gate carbon for Amtico Marine by up to 20% without altering performance or aesthetics – Amtico Bio LVT is physically and chemically identical to Amtico’s standard Marine LVT.
Amtico Marine complies with Modules B&D of the Marine Equipment Directive and bears the IMO wheelmark. Furthermore, it includes a high-performance ionic silver additive to the wear layer of the product, creating a hygienic surface where bacteria cannot multiply or survive – ideal for busy cruise ship interiors.
Marine is available to be specified as Amtico Bio, enabling specifiers to meet lower-carbon targets without compromising on aesthetics or durability. Amtico Bio – Marine includes 36% bio-attributed content. Amtico Bio is a key part of the Marine industry’s transition to more environmentally responsible flooring solutions. Additionally, all of Amtico’s products contain pre-consumer recycled content.
Amtico Marine is 100% recyclable with Amtico TakeBack scheme. Amtico collect and recycle “clean” installation offcuts of Amtico LVT directly back into our products, becoming new Amtico LVT, which supports a circular economy by reducing the reliance on new materials. LVT waste contaminated with foreign materials (e.g. glue, screed etc.) can also be returned for recycling. This includes end-of-life LVT flooring removed during the installation of new Amtico LVT (including uplifted LVT from other manufacturers). These contaminated materials are sent to our waste partners who turn them into other products such as road traffic cones and speed bumps.
Amtico’s commitment to a sustainable future is not just embedded into the product. Amtico’s Responsible Foundations programme is anchored by three pillars – Fighting Climate Change, Reducing Waste and Empowering People – and governed by a Board-level Sustainability Steering Group that reviews progress quarterly. Since the launch of the Responsible Foundations strategy in 2021, Scope 1+2 emissions have been cut by 33% compared to the baseline in 2018 [9,486.3 tCO2e down to 6,370.3tCO2e], while maintaining zero operational waste to landfill.
In early 2024, Redzone was introduced into the UK factory, a significant step in the digital transformation of Amtico’s manufacturing processes. By digitising factory operations, workflows have been streamlined and there has been enhanced col
