The Captain’s Bar on Mein Schiff Flow is conceived as an exclusive retreat where architecture, atmosphere and the surrounding seascape become one experience. Inspired by Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, the storytelling translates the fascination of underwater exploration and discovery into a contemporary bar concept. Rather than creating a literal nautical theme, the design interprets Verne’s visionary world through atmosphere, details and a strong connection to the ocean.
Located on Deck 16, the bar accommodates around 75 guests and is defined by an exceptional visual relationship with the sea. Expansive window fronts extending over two decks create a panoramic setting, giving guests an elevated perspective reminiscent of the captain’s view from the bridge.
The interior combines contemporary elegance with a relaxed maritime character. Carefully selected furniture creates a balance between social interaction and intimate seating, while the spatial arrangement allows the ocean to remain the dominant visual element. Subtle references to the world of Jules Verne enrich the experience without becoming decorative clichés: the space evokes the atmosphere of an imagined underwater observatory, where exploration, curiosity and the unknown become part of the narrative.
This approach reflects the wider design philosophy of the new InTUItion class, with its emphasis on spaciousness, intuitive movement and a close relationship between interior and sea. At the Captain’s Bar, architecture effectively turns the panorama into part of the interior design. Daylight, horizon and changing weather continuously transform the atmosphere.
The cocktail concept continues the storytelling. The menu is structured around the four elements and combines fresh, earthy, spicy and light flavour profiles. Each creation engages several senses through aroma, texture and taste, transforming the cocktail into another chapter of the experience.
The result is a bar where storytelling is embedded in the architecture rather than applied as decoration. Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea becomes a conceptual lens through which furniture, spatial atmosphere, panoramic architecture and mixology come together – creating a contemporary interpretation of exploration, discovery and the fascination of the sea.
