FRESCOLORI Caramor Travertine deserves to win Interior Product of the Year because it combines the timeless beauty and tactile character of natural travertine with the specific requirements of contemporary cruise ship interiors.
Its authentic appearance is created through the material itself and the craftsmanship of its application. The grain is first rubbed onto the surface and subsequently smoothed, creating the characteristic structure and small open cavities reminiscent of naturally porous travertine. Rather than reproducing a predefined pattern, the process creates an individual surface every time – giving each interior its own unique character.
With a material consumption of only approximately 3 kg per m², Caramor Travertine achieves the visual depth and presence of a substantial stone surface while adding remarkably little weight – a significant advantage in ship interiors, where weight is an important consideration.
Caramor Travertine is IMO certified for marine applications and consists of 96% natural ingredients. It therefore combines authentic materiality and craftsmanship with the technical requirements of interiors at sea.
Unlike conventional stone slabs, Caramor Travertine is handcrafted directly onto the substrate. Designers are not restricted by slab dimensions, repetitive patterns or conventional joints. Large areas and architectural elements can be created seamlessly, while variations in structure make every finished surface unique.
These qualities can already be experienced in a real cruise environment: Caramor Travertine is installed as an integral part of the interior of the Brauhaus on board AIDA. Its warm, naturally porous stone character perfectly complements the design concept and contributes to the authentic and welcoming atmosphere of the space. Here, the surface does more than decorate a wall – it supports the architecture, atmosphere and identity of the interior.
This makes Caramor Travertine particularly compelling for both newbuild and refit projects. It gives architects, interior designers, shipyards and operators the character and tactile appeal associated with natural travertine while offering considerably greater freedom in weight, application and design.
