Eco-Friendly Upcycling: Repurposed Carpet Coasters

What do you do with miles of carpet that would otherwise end up in a landfill after a ship goes into dry dock? With some creative planning, Holland America Line has given this old carpet a second life. Developed in partnership with Dansk Wilton, carpet that would otherwise be landfilled is instead collected, shredded, melted, pressed and sealed into collectable coasters. These repurposed carpet coasters transform waste into something guests can enjoy long after their voyage, serving as a tangible reminder of how circular design can turn resources once destined for landfill into long-lasting, sustainable products.
