The team at MJM has a long-standing reputation as a leading Global outfitter. This reputation helps to give clients confidence, contributing to MJM’s success in winning work to fuel growth. This has been particularly important at such an uncertain time in the cruise industry. MJM’s business grew over 300% in the 5-year period pre-pandemic. In 2021, staffing levels increased by 39% to service demand and just recently the company made a significant jobs announcement for the recruitment of 50 more key roles to the organisation.

In the years prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, MJM Marine experienced a significant period of growth. Covid, as with many industries, had a significant impact on MJM Marine and the cruise industry as a whole. During the downturn in the industry, MJM focused the company on implementing innovative processes and procedures throughout the business to ensure that it continues to deliver a world leading service for their valued customers. During this period, a significant investment was made in the continued development and implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This ERP system has been a central part of the company’s growth and continuity since its launch in September 2021.

Ensuring the safety of passengers and crew is integral to rebuilding confidence and attracting customers back to cruising. MJM has been proactive and engaged two key partners, Vyv antimicrobial Lighting and Ilimex Air Purification Systems, to help in this endeavor. Vyv manufacture antimicrobial lighting solutions which continuously clean the area where it’s installed. Ilimex manufacture UV-C Air Sterilisers which use a combination of sterilisation technologies to eliminate 99.9 % of airborne pathogens, including coronavirus. MJM has also launched a new Carpet and Upholstery Division to service demand and offer a more complete service for clients.

Despite the many challenges faced during the pandemic, the company remained profitable during 2020 and 2021 and managed to maintain a healthy balance throughout. Key customer relationships have been maintained and 2022 has so far seen a strong pipeline with future work secured for delivery in 2023. Close collaboration with our teams and clients is at the heart of what we do.

One of the keys to MJM’s recovery and continued growth is the company’s focus on building strong sustainable relations with key customers by providing world-class service. In June 2022, MJM exhibited at CSIE America in Miami, Florida, where it showcased its global expertise in project management, in-house manufacturing and the latest product innovations with an area of the stand dedicated to Vyv lighting and Ilimex air filtration systems. This was a great opportunity for the company to connect with their international client base and suppliers.

Coming from the pandemic, the order book has continued to grow with significant projects such as work onboard Royal Caribbean International Wonder of the Seas (currently the world’s largest cruise ship), work onboard Virgin Voyages first two cruise ships, Scarlet Lady and Valient Lady and the company has just won a significant multi-million pound contract for work onboard Marella Discovery for cabin and suite refurbishment and installation of Vyv lighting to the wet areas of the ship.

On every job MJM issue a customer satisfaction survey with all returned survey’s achieving either good or excellent on all elements. This is also reflected in the fact that our clients come back to us time and time again with up to 96% repeat business.

MJM operate out of state-of-the-art facilities and have the latest in joinery manufacturing equipment and spray booth technology, combining a blend of traditional joinery techniques and advanced CNC systems. MJM has a reputation in the industry for the high quality of their products through their innovative manufacturing techniques and attention to detail.

MJM’s design teams use the latest in 3D drawing packages which integrate flawlessly with their CAD/CAM packages which in turn control their CNC Machines. This, combined with MJM’s knowledgeable personnel ensures that they can cope with short lead time projects better than any of their competitors.

As MJM look to the future, they are looking forward to growing as the industry continues to grow and recover. The key areas of focus for MJM are sustainability and further investment in digital technology as well as growing the carpet and upholstery division to add value for clients.
