The best public space must be The Pesky Parrot Tiki Bar, located onboard Utopia of the Seas, it is a vibrant, immersive experience that perfectly captures the spirit of the tropics. Conceptualised with a keen eye for detail and completed by MJM Marine, this unique space goes beyond the typical cruise ship bar, transforming into a social oasis where guests can relax, connect, and unwind. Our team met with Royal Caribbean to discuss ways to create a new and exciting bar onboard their new ship. MJM Marine assisted with the design and fitout of this public space to ensure it fitted Royal Caribbean’s brief and vision.

Designed to evoke the warmth and allure of a tropical beach, the Pesky Parrot is adorned with greenery, bamboo accents, and playful, colourful decor with signs such as ‘Tropic like its hot’. The ambiance is brought to life with large TV screens, which MJM Marine thought would offer a dynamic view of the beach creating the illusion that guests are lounging at a beachfront paradise. These imaginary windows, combined with ambient sounds of tropical music, enhances the guest experience, transporting them to a world of summer vibes.

The bar offers an extensive menu of expertly crafted cocktails, featuring both classic and exotic Tiki-inspired creations. The Pesky Parrot’s bar has a unique place where the bottles are kept, and this was built in our workshop in Newry and transported to the ship to be fitted. MJM Marine wanted to ensure they created a timeless space that offers something unique to ship and fitted out to the highest standards.

This innovative space has become a favourite gathering spot on the Utopia of the Seas, attracting guests of all ages to its lively atmosphere. Whether passengers are seeking a relaxing drink in a picturesque setting or a lively night of socializing, the Pesky Parrot Tiki Bar delivers an unforgettable experience. Many guests onboard have posted videos documenting their experience in the bar. By seamlessly blending cutting-edge design with the help of MJM Marine’s professional teams, the Pesky Parrot embodies the essence of what a cruise ship’s public space should be – a place of joy, connection, and unforgettable memories.
