Company Name: Piaval
Product Name: Macaron Collection

The seating collection Macaron by Piaval combines Italian design and an extraordinary level of comfort. It features all the characteristics of a product developed to match the specific requirements of the naval interiors: the solidity of the wooden structure, designed to be subjected to intense use; the comfort of the backrest; the pleasure of being seated on a soft, padded seat; a stylish and contemporary aesthetic that determines the freedom of use in any cruise ships environment, such as restaurants, bars, lounges and clubs, suites and cabins.

The collection, designed by arch. Laura Silvestrini, includes 3 models: an elegant and comfortable armchair, a large and welcoming lounge and an inviting 2-seat sofa. Macaron is characterized by details that distinguish the Made in Italy craftsmanship of the brand, that in 2019 celebrated 100 years of excellence in wooden seating, and the path of research by which the company investigates the technical potentiality of wood, until reaching new goals, made possible by a deep knowledge of the material that is added to innovative processes of industrialization.

“I conceived Macaron as a project capable of generating a dual aesthetics, made of simple lines but with great attention to structural detail – says the designer – thus highlighting the quality and precision of woodworking. By structuring the models into two distinct elements that allow packaging to be rationalized and shipping optimized, I also wanted to emphasize the sensitivity and attention that Piaval has always paid to the theme of sustainability.”

Macaron is a perfectly calibrated two-volumes project. The first is the shell – padded and enveloping – supported at the base by a curved wooden profile that traces a sign that ends in the front legs. The second is the seat, in the center of which the rear legs are inserted: its structure is a perfect circle on which a soft cushion rests, round itself. The precise overlapping of these two layers recalls the image of the delicate French pastry that gives the name to the chair.

The structure of Macaron, available in beech wood or walnut wood, can be customized in a wide range of finishes and the choice of upholstery, all of excellent quality and high performance, ranges from fabric to leather.

Since 1919, in-depth expertise in comfort and design, quality and careful selection of materials are the distinguishing traits of each product by Piaval, the result of in-house craftsmanship and technologically advanced industrial processes. PIAVAL provides flexible solutions for the naval and hospitality industry: products are created by renowned designers in response to the needs of international turnkey projects and are certified by international tests.
