Once you cruise on the Wind Star, you realize just how great the pool deck is at bringing guests together, whether it’s having a cocktail at the bar or kicking your feet up at the aft lounge. So, in our pursuit of redefining luxury cruising, we undertook a transformative renovation of the Wind Star’s pool area, elevating the design to meet the guests and crew energy here, turning it into a vibrant, social hub that seamlessly blends classic yacht elegance with contemporary comfort.
The renovation’s cornerstone is the covered bar area, which was expanded into an inviting focal point that fosters social interaction, with a design that encourages mingling and relaxation. The bar itself has been redesigned with sleek, nautical-inspired details that were influenced by beach clubs throughout Miami, where Windstar’s HQ is. Its ergonomic layout and refined finishes invite guests to linger, sip their favorite cocktails, and engage in lively conversations.
Adjacent to the bar, you’ll find the pool and jacuzzi area. We took on the challenge of removing the large sky light to give more lounging and gathering space to the deck. The pool is thoughtfully integrated with new lounge seating options, both sun-drenched and shaded, catering to varying preferences. It was a must to add sofa lounging on the aft of the pool deck, the best spot on your luxury yacht, positioned perfectly for panoramic views. Our approach to the seating was inspired by the graceful lines of the sails, the furniture features curved and flared shapes that evoke the movement and elegance of the sails. This design is complemented by small wood and teak accents, contrast double stitching, and plush cushions, ensuring both visual appeal and ultimate comfort.
The Miami beach club influence was integrated through not only color and texture but also through the touches of fauna and botanicas. We installed custom wave-like mosaic walls and surrounds with integrated botanical elements. Around the pool bar, you’ll find yourself energized by a variety of planters and plant types to bring liveliness to the pool area.
Overall, the redesigned pool area of the Wind Star epitomizes our commitment to blending classic yacht charm with contemporary luxury. By incorporating sail-inspired furniture, custom mosaics, and lush greenery, we have created a space that is both innovative and inviting, setting a new benchmark for public spaces on cruise ships.
