Anyone who has stayed at a Vidanta resort in Mexico knows what makes it singular: space is the luxury. The villas breathe – vast volumes, generous ceilings, the feeling of being at home in an extraordinary place. Our brief was to carry that soul to sea. So we erased the grid. Three standard 20 m² cabin modules, each locked in the ship’s previous layout, became a single 60 m² Presidential Deluxe Suite – a flowing residence with a distinct living room, dining salon and master bedroom, defined by rhythm and light rather than walls.
We enlarged the window casings well beyond their original size, turning modest apertures into broad light frames onto the ocean. Daylight now floods the suite and the horizon draws the eye outward, so the space feels far larger than its footprint. Beneath the glazing, a long bespoke cabinet runs the full length of the windows – its low horizontal line grounds the interior and carries the eye uninterrupted from room to room, so the suite reads as one continuous environment. Warm timber panelling complements the light walls.
Every principal piece was custom-designed by our studio and made to measure in Italy, crafted in fine leather and textile. The language is Scandinavian – clean lines, soft forms, presence without weight. Ivory bouclé sets a serene base; polished stainless steel metal trims and terracotta velvet add depth and warmth. Soft, layered lighting and the quiet glow of the furnishings themselves make the suite feel residential after dark, with an unmistakable yacht sensibility throughout.
At the entrance, a small minibar cabinet greets the guest – just as it would in the residence suites of a Vidanta resort. Always stocked with food and drinks and tended by the crew, it sets an immediate tone of luxury and generous hospitality. It is a detail that speaks the resort’s own language: the sense of being welcomed, cared for, placed at the centre of the experience, with the crew always looking after you.
To root the suite in Vidanta’s world, we commissioned a contemporary Mexican maker – from the metalwork scattered across the living-room wall like a shoal of shells to the seascapes echoing the view beyond the glass. Scandinavian design, Italian craft and Mexican artistry, meeting at sea.
