We are proud to present the Presidential Villa on AROYA as a contender for Best Cabin.
SMC Design led the transformation of the former World Dream – a 335-metre, 151,000 GT, 18-deck vessel to become AROYA. As the largest cruise ship refit completed in Europe, we were appointed lead architect for 80% of the ship, with full responsibility for FF&E, wayfinding, branding and art. The brief: create a luxurious, family-oriented experience tailored to the Saudi market.
On board AROYA, there are two Presidential suites designed as private sanctuaries with uninterrupted sea views, combining exclusive service with carefully considered interiors offering guest with the finest Khuzama experience.
Materiality and texture underpin the design of this suite. Honed natural stone flooring, complemented by bespoke hand carved carpets have been used throughout the villa. Polished plaster panels and suede upholstered headboards frame the sleeping area. A calm neutral palette is enriched with accents of deep plum and muted lavender, adding depth without overwhelming the serenity of the space.
SMC worked with Aroya Cruises on the complete art collection onboard AROYA. Comprising over 2,480 unique pieces, the diverse collection draws inspiration from Cruise Saudi’s Remarkably Arabian ethos. Key pieces are featured in the Presidential Villa.
These villas come with their own double level garden terraces connected with an exterior spiral staircase containing an outdoor hot-tub, sauna and alfresco dining. The lounge and guest dining were opulently decorated with the finest Italian furnishings from Minotti and Porada to name a few.
