Raether

Submitted by: Carola Porporato
Supplier: Foglizzo Leather

This innovative material is made of up to 85% recycled leather fibers, sourced from both pre- and post-consumer waste, combined with a small percentage of recycled polyester fibers.
By transforming discarded scraps into a valuable resource, Raether sets a new benchmark for sustainability and circularity.

The key reasons why Raether stands out include:
• Lower environmental impact: up to 60–85% reduction in carbon footprint compared to natural leather; very low water consumption (95% recycled water) and minimal energy use (0.3 Kwh/m).
• Waste reduction and recycling: prevents leather waste from ending up in landfills, closing the loop in the production cycle.
• Excellent technical performance: strong, lightweight (40% lighter than natural leather of the same thickness), colorfast, and safe, meeting strict fire-safety standards across demanding industries from aviation to residential interiors.
• Versatility: suitable for yachting, interiors, fashion, automotive, and aviation, while maintaining the beauty, softness, and workability of real leather.

Raether proves that innovation can combine beauty, performance, and environmental responsibility, offering a truly circular model with the potential to redefine the future of the leather industry.
