Studio DADO – Sky Princess Sky Suites
Company Name: Studio DADO
Space Name: Sky Princess Sky Suites
Cruise Line: Princess Cruise Lines
Ship Name: Sky Princess
Princess Cruise lines selected Studio DADO to bring forth a more modern vision for the luxury brand for its newest ship, Sky Princess. Introducing a new design benchmark with the debut of The Sky Suites, DADO oversaw the development and implementation of Princess’ shift toward a more balanced contemporary design aesthetic. This entirely new premium suite category introduces the standard of a new aesthetic for the Princess brand. As DADO began to design the space they needed to keep in mind that the interiors of the two Sky Suites would need to represent not only a design evolution for the brand, but needed to have the ability to set a design direction for future vessels.
Focusing on the unique challenge of how to evolve the brand, DADO asked themselves what might draw new travelers to the line while keeping true to what passengers have grown to love about Princess. This led DADO to select design elements that create a harmony of modern sophistication and a feel of a highend boutique hotel.
Offering the largest balcony at sea and sweeping 270-degree panoramic view key elements within each of the suites, communicate the desired mix of modern design and luxurious features. Studio DADO focused on highlighting the most stand-out elements of the suite, such as a dramatic skylight featuring a contemporary chandelier suspended within. By eliminating the walls between living and dining room spaces, this allowed for a modern open room concept with a unique decorative screen which provides privacy another touch of elegance to the suite.
Materials used are rich, sophisticated, warm and inviting; creating the balance of elegance that Princess is known for, with the more modern aesthetics of a new generation of design. Careful attention to detail, thoughtful furniture selection and cohesive decorative elements such as sleek furniture, modern white toned stones; modern, clean profiles on countertops; sculptural elements and contemporary fabrics keep the space contemporary yet inviting.
