Upon embarking, guests are welcomed into the newly redesigned lounge, greeted with a mimosa and the warm smiles of our crew. This initial encounter sets the tone for their journey, and the lounge serves as a crucial hub throughout their cruise. By day, it becomes a quiet space where guests can curl up with a good book and a hot latte, enjoying the adjacent Yacht Club Café. As the day progresses, the lounge evolves into a lively pre-dinner cocktail venue and a center for entertainment following our port talks. After dinner, it transforms into a dynamic space for dancing with our entertainment team or enjoying our celebrated crew show.
This need for versatility inspired the design concept for the new lounge. The layout features oversized coffee tables and plush lounge chairs, encouraging open, group seating and facilitating social interactions. We aimed to strike a balance between intimate corners and expansive group areas, making it easy for guests to find a quiet nook or engage with fellow travelers in the central seating zone.
A key design element was incorporating fun and vibrant touches, featuring jewel tones of green contrasted with bold black and white accents, complemented by brass metal details. This palette brings energy and sophistication into the space. The lounge bar, a focal point of the renovation, boasts a woven metal front, a sleek black marble porcelain counter, and playful accent lighting, paired with comfortable bar stools that invite guests to relax and socialize. Within the lounge bar, we integrated more functional shelving and storage to optimize the crew operations.
One of the significant challenges we faced was the removal of the previous skylight, which was surrounded by a large part of the HVAC system. To maintain a sense of openness and warmth, we implemented diffused lighting panels and custom laser-cut grids that facilitate air flow while preserving an airy ambiance.
Most of the inset area rugs feature organic patterns, while the central “living” space features a bold geometric pattern with pops of color. The entertainment system underwent a complete overhaul, including the addition of a new performance area, lighting, and sound system highlighted by a striking marble wall backdrop and lush green velvet curtains, setting the stage for memorable performances and events.
Overall, the revitalized lounge on the Wind Star shows our dedication to enhancing every aspect of the guest experience through warmth and welcoming interiors.
