In early 2024, Cunard Line introduced Queen Anne, its 249th ship, designed by a select group of world-renowned designers, including Sybille de Margerie. Renowned for her work in luxury hotels and residences, the designer brought a unique blend of elegance and modernity to the maritime sector, creating a vessel that celebrates both tradition and innovation.

Aboard Queen Anne, Sybille de Margerie has redefined maritime shopping with a sophisticated blend of form, function, and aesthetic innovation. Leveraging her expertise in high-end hospitality design, she crafted a retail environment that merges fluidity and elegance, inviting guests to explore. The retail layout features meandering pathways that guide guests seamlessly from one area to another. An innovation for the design of these spaces that confer a sense of limitless. Combined with strategic sightlines, these pathways enhance spatial connectivity and encourage discovery. This design ensures a cohesive yet varied shopping experience, reflecting Cunard’s luxury heritage and their timeless elegance.

Natural light floods the retail spaces through expansive windows, framing stunning sea views and enhancing the sense of openness. Reflective surfaces, soft textures, and refined finishes create a dialogue between indoor and outdoor spaces, evoking understated luxury.

A focal experience is the Cabinet of Curiosities, a 360-degree rotunda gallery, showcases the Cunard story through an eclectic and rare set of brands and ‘curiosities’. Illuminated cabinetry and transparent screens transform shopping into a journey of discovery.

The Experience Lounge innovatively merges retail with hospitality, offering a multisensory environment where guests will be able to taste, try on and learn the provenance, heritage and quirks behind key brand partners.

To personalize the shopping journey, Queen Anne introduces a dedicated Shopping Host and a personalization desk offering custom engraving and embossing. This bespoke service reflects the designer focus on luxury and detail, ensuring tailored guest interactions.

The design incorporates neutral tones, luxurious fabrics, and high-gloss finishes, creating an atmosphere of refined elegance that blends contemporary trends with timeless sophistication. Sybille de Margerie’s approach to Queen Anne’s retail spaces exemplifies masterful design, offering a seamless blend of tradition, innovation, and luxury.
