The first ever Cruise Ship Interiors Award winners were announced in and exclusive online-only event on Monday 15th June. The awards attracted hundreds of stunning entries from across the cruise interiors industry. The finalists were handpicked by a panel of industry experts from across the cruise lines. Voting was then opened to the cruise interiors community and the community responded in their thousands! The counts were close and, without further ado, the winners are:
Best Cabin, sponsored by Eumar Design – Studio DADO!
The Miami-based design firm created the Sky Princess Sky Suites for Princess Cruise Lines’ Sky Princess. They introduced a fresh, contemporary design for the cruise line, setting the design direction for future vessels.
Best Restaurant, sponsored by Five Star Table Linens – De Jorio Design International!
The Italian design firm created the Champagne Bar aboard MSC Seaside. The gleaming design marries traditional and contemporary design, embodying the glamour, bubbles and ice of the champagne experience.
Best Spa/Wellness, sponsored by The Marine Interiors Club – Virgin Voyage with Knibb!
The Virgin Voyages design team paired with LA-based Knibb to create Redemption Spa aboard the cruise line’s first vessel, Scarlet Lady. Designed to be enjoyed alone or with friends, Virgin Voyages describe their spa experience as ‘a cross between a weekend in Bali and 2 hours at a café in Amsterdam’.
Best Public Space, sponsored by Trevira – Carnival Cruise Line!
The cruise line’s in-house design team created the Havana Bar & Pool Area aboard Carnival Panorama. Inviting by day and intriguing by night, every detail is curated to transport passengers to Havana, Cuba.
Best Outdoor Space, sponsored by Njords Ark – SMC Design!
The London-based design firm created The Lido for Saga Cruises. This flexible pool and entertainment area aboard Spirit of Discovery combines classic Art Deco design with modern statement.
Best Furniture, sponsored by Elmo Leather – Piaval for their Macaron Collection!
This seating collection combines Italian design with an extraordinary level of comfort, developed to match the specific requirements of naval interiors.
Best Floor Covering, sponsored by F Ball and co. Ltd – G Theodor Freese GmbH!
Their unique cement-based design solution has been used on interior areas on two Norwegian Cruise Line ships; Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Joy.
Best Lighting, sponsored by MRD – Precosia, Tillberg Design of Sweden & We Are Light!
The three companies worked together to create the 220,000 glass crystal atrium chandelier aboard Norwegian Bliss.
Best Bathroom – Eumar Design!
Their new entry to the Split range, installed aboard Marella Explorer 2, is able to withstand heavy weather conditions while adorning any stylish hotel interior.

The UK-based design firm created 3D nautical artwork to adorn each stair lobby aboard Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady. The piece is inspired by childhood pop-up self-assembly toys and features natural objects found washed up from the ocean.

Limartec Wood Veneer Systems is the first semi-finished product on the market, a revolutionary development for the cruise industry.

Founder of GEM – Design for Cruise, Giacomo has led cruise interior design for decades. His influential work can be seen aboard many of today’s most famous cruise ships, including Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth.
Rising Star – Callie Tedder-Hares!
Founder and Creative Director at Volume Creative, Callie worked seamlessly with Virgin Voyages’ in-house design team to create the industry-shaking design experience onboard Scarlet Lady.
Unsung Hero – Jon Ingleton!
The Executive Editor of industry-leading publications Cruise & Ferry Review, Cruise & Ferry Interiors and other publications, Jon has championed the cruise industry and been the voice of the cruise interiors community throughout his career.
