We are thrilled to announce the first name to sponsor an award at the Cruise Ship Interiors Awards. Saapunki Marketing will be sponsoring the ‘Sustainable Product of the Year’ award.

Saapunki is an exciting force in the marine community. In the brand’s own words it’s ‘the heavyweight marketing agency for the global shipowners, shipyards and marine industry suppliers’. Saapunki prides itself on providing new services for marine industry companies and is breaking fresh ground in the marine industry.

Established in 2018 by founder Arja Saapunki, Saapunki has helped launch leading Finnish faucet manufacturer Oras on a global platform, among other projects. Although they are a young company, they have a global vision; bringing their clients’ experience to the attention of the international cruise and marine markets whilst helping them expand into new areas.

Given Saapunki’s passion for innovation, it’s no surprise that they are sponsoring our ‘Sustainable Product of the Year’ award. Sustainability has recently evolved as a new driver in the cruise ship industry, impacting the way cruise interior design is developed and executed. As those in the industry know, there are already stringent rules regulating the selection of materials aboard a cruise ship and sustainability contains its own unique challenge within cruise interior design. However, with its customary creativity, the cruise interiors community has turned a challenge into an opportunity, unveiling ever-more striking sustainable designs. It is this creativity that Saapunki and the Cruise Ship Interiors Awards will be celebrating.

Saapunki doesn’t just embody the spirit of sustainable cruise design, it lives it professionally too. The agency’s recent collaboration with I.S. Makinen, a Turku-based turnkey company established in 1992, supports the shipbuilder’s sustainability development program. This sustainability development program aims to improve environmental and social responsibilities across newbuild and refurbishment projects.

The Cruise Ship Interiors Awards will span 20 key areas of cruise ship design and outfitting, addressing four major areas: spaces, projects, products, and people. Confirmed awards include ‘Best Restaurant Design’, ‘Best Floor Covering’, ‘Best Refurbishment’ and ‘Best Newbuild’. Entries are open until 15 January 2020 and submission couldn’t be easier. Simply download our guidelines, pick the category best suited to you, fill in the form, and send it in before the cut off date.
